What does the german abbreviation "Myo" mean?
Hi everybody,
does anybody have any idea what the abbreviation "Myo" means? It appears in a war diary of a recce unit. It is mentioned to occur in certain geographical areas and time periods. Any help is apprechiated. Thanks, Norbert |

that meens "luftalarm", airfield closed bcause enemy airstrike for example. regards jim |

hi,
yes sometimes it had to be: maybe they were out of fuel or something else. i know some entries of transportfliegers who landed in russia during enemy attacks, also myo. regards jim |

An NSG 9 veteran told me it stood for "Maschinen über Ort" (aircraft over the locality) but that could have been a mnemonic rather than a definition, I suspect.

I have also wondered about this, as my uncle's log books contain several mentions of "Myo zwingt zur Rueckkehr" or "Myo: es wird Gruen geschossen".
