Uffz. Hermann Decker I./KG40

I am trying to find some details concerning Unteroffizier Hermann Decker, a Beobachter with I./KG40.

So far, I know that he was wounded on 05-06-40 for which he recieved the Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz. Can anyone provide details of his aircraft and crew at all?

I also know he was killed on 19-10-43, again I am looking to find out anything about his aircraft and fellow crew members.

If anyone can provide any information at all on Hermann Decker I can assure you that it will be very well received indeed.

Regards Richard.

Chris, thanks for your reply, it is much appreciated as always.

Since originally posting, I have discovered he was serving BFS 6 when he was killed, and I have attached a scan of the Death Card.

I have also attached a scan of the Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz document awarded for his wounds serving in I./KG40.

Consequently, can anyone shed any light on the details of his aircraft and crew on his wounding and later death?

Any help whatsoever will be very well received indeed.

Regards Richard.

Hello Brian

Many thanks indeed for your help with his wounding. One more question, what does the 62751/10 relate to?

Can you or anyone else pass on any details for the NVM relating to Deckers death at all?

Regards Richard.

Richard, the 62751 is the Erkennungsmark for I/KG40 the 10 is Deckers individual number. I am afraid I do not have the loss details for the Luftwaffe schools,

Re: Uffz. Hermann Decker I./KG40

This is why I did not have an aircraft loss. He was not aircrew per se but a navigation specialist (Ober Nautiker). He was wounded by gunfire from the ground and admitted to the hospital at Gardermoen

He was wounded while his Fw 200 was attacking Norwegian wireless station near to Kirkenes.
