JG51 Spitfire Victories during August 16th, 1940. What Spitfire Squadrons were they facing that day??
Hello All!!
On August 16th, 1940 JG 51 claimed four Spitfires. Hptm. Walter Oesau claimed two destroyed off of Cap Gris Nez. Hptm Horst Tietzen claimed one destroyed and Lt. Hans-Otto Lessing claimed a Spit as well. Can anyone identify the particular Spitfire squadrons that JG 51 was fighting with that day?? In particular the Squadrons that were flying close to the southeast or south of the London area?? Thank you very much for any help you could lend!! Cheers!! Mark Copeland |
