27 June 1943 Luftwaffe losses

According to Foreman the only Luftwaffe casualties were three bf109 of JG1 with significant identified damage. Eight Luftwaffe fighters were claimed during the day by RAF sources. At this date this seems an unlikely overclaim by the RAF. Disregarding JG26 and JG2 were there other Luftwaffe losses from JFS or recon staffels?

best regards

Keith

No combat losses for JG 2 or JG 26. 5./123 lost a Bf 109 to 124 Sqn off the Kent coast

Well Keith, if the book you quote from is Fighter Command War Diaries part 3, Foreman does not say
Bf 109!
He wrote 'In the two Roadsteads, three aircraft from JG 1 sustained damage'.

Cheers
Stig

Re: 27 June 1943 Luftwaffe losses

There were 4 damaged planes of I./JG 1. Only one with confirmed battle damage. Two due to other reasons and one a possibility. So, max two damaged planes for 8 claims....
