Ju 87 WNr. 5412

Hello,

Is the pedigree of Ju 87 5412 known?
A panel of this bird was recently found in Belgium.

Thanks beforehand.

Re: Ju 87 WNr. 5412

I have it as a Ju 87 B-1. It was with StG 101 on 06-Apr-43 when it was damaged 50% due to hitting an obstruction at St. Raphael. (RL 2 III/775 Gen.Qu.6.Abt, p.52 11-04-43 9.)

Regards,
Norbert

ClinA,

I've checked our EoE W.Nr. DB, and have no record of this loss in Belgium during the Western Campaign or Battle of Britain. What further do you know about this crash? As you know, most of the Ju87 crashes known during the WC do not have a reported W.Nr. in Luftwaffe QM records.

Re: Ju 87 WNr. 5412

Adding FYI, this BA-MA RL 2 III / 775 document belongs to Luftwaffe Schulen losses (not the operational units losses series of documents) and it was reported there as "Ju 88 B1 5412" hitting obstruction. Well, no Ju 88 B1 had number 5412 so obvious error. And Ju 87 B-1 at 50% in spring 1943 was strictly not much repair material, I think. So panel could have come via an metal repair and/or recycling centre. -Ed

Thanks Ed.
I take all inputs because mine is gone forever with its former owner.
