JG 26 against Marauders + Spitfires over Brusels

Hi all,

can anybody provide me more information about Fw190s which attacked American bombers + British Spitfires?

I am writing an article about Spitfire shot down by Hptm. Neu who I believe was member of 4./JG 26. What about other F190s? They were from I./JG 26 (as all my sources stated) or from II./JG 26 or it was a mixture from both units?

Many thanks for any help in advance

Pavel

I am very sorry for my mistake - it was a day before - on 19th April 1944.
Yes there were 2 Czechoslovak pilots shot down - F/L Budil who survived and W/O Mrtvy of 313 Sq who was killed.

Re: JG 26 against Marauders + Spitfires over Brusels

Hi Pavel,

W/O Arnost MRTVY's Spitfire wreckage was recovered last year in the hamlet called Wolfstee near the town of Herentals. He was probably claimed by Oblt. Wolfang NEU (Kapitän of the 4th Staffel, thus I./JG 26) on the 19th April 44.

Best regards.

Yes I know about the recovery and it is also part of my article.
