Nestler, an UK airframer company in 1936
Hello Everyone,
Do you know this Nestler company based in UK and apparently specialized in A/C building (subcontractor)? Apparently, this company should have been created in 1936 with a capital of 400 000 £ with the official agreement of the Air Ministry to sustain the massive three-year english A/C production program. This company should work closely with the engine maker Alvis. I got this information from french archives which mention Nesler as potential company for bomber production in case of license agreement. Thanking you in anticipation Cheers Jérôme |

Re: Nestler, an UK airframer company in 1936
Jerome,
Browsing in the Flight Magazine archives there seems to have been (or still is?) a Nestler Ltd, established in 1913 and specializing in portable aircraft sheds and hangars... Of WW I years there also has been a Nestler Scout aeroplane. See picture here: http://www.aviastar.org/air/england/nestler_scout.php and some details: http://www.aviastar.org/manufacturers/1545.html Regards, Leendert |

Re: Nestler, an UK airframer company in 1936
Leendert,
Thanking you for the info provided. I guess this is Nestler Ltd who was approached because of aero experience (altough limited in A/C production) and working closely in coordination with Alvis Plc. At this time, the Air Ministry would secure the massive three-year A/C production program. This company would provide additional capacity to the current UK airframers in term of A/C production.
