Bush, G.H.Was crew.

With the sad loss of George H.W.Bush it seems only right that at this time we should remember his crew on that fatal September 2nd, '44.

Lt(j.g). William Gardner WHITE - O-210562 of Minnesota.
and
Arm2c. John L. DELANEY - O-2049043 of Rhode Island.

Reunited

Re: Bush, G.H.Was crew.

According to professor Keijo Korhonen (Arizona State University, former Finnish SecState) Bush the elder was the last statesman president of the U. S.

Re: Bush, G.H.Was crew.

In a biographical book several years ago mr. Bush reminisced about his wartime experiences. He was the youngest combat pilot of the USN. On his return train trip (to go overseas), his father drove him to the station. Father was a reserved, staid man but mr. Bush glimpsed him in the parking lot, weeping. The only time he did so. During an afternoon pause with the writer, mr. Bush ( who had a model of the Grumann Avenger prominently on his desk), walked to the window, quietly, after relating the episode of his crew's loss. He said softly " I think of those guys every day".
So similar to the hundreds of veterans of all nationalities I've met since the 1970's.
