Nice selection again Ed...

Can anybody confirm that the code of the Fw200 (last Misc) is KE+IX? Its the last letter that is confusing me...

cheers in advance,

Servus, Peter!

For what it's worth, from the picture alone, I think I would go for the code K E + I X. Am away from my references just now, but I seem to remember a Fw 200 SKZ block commencing K E + , perhaps it could be K E + I - .

Funny, the question in my mind was not the last letter but the second one: Is this an "E" or a "F?" So the fun goes on. . . .

Cheers for that Rabe... the more I look at it the more the last letter looks like an X. As for the second letter, its definatly looks like an E. but I've had the opportunuity to look at all three images with photoshop and there appears to be some dirt covering the lower part of the letter...

Fun indeed RA

cheers,

Gruß Gott Peter!

Well, kick my derrière from here to Samarkand, or something! I had completely overlooked the third photo until you mentioned there were THREE!!! Hummmmmm, senility, one supposes. You were too diplomatic to mention it. Anyway, yes, the three images taken together seem to clearly indicate this kite was K E + I X.

Do you perchance have Nowarra's book on the Fw 200? There's a fairly complete Werknummer-SKZ list in it.

FW 200C-3/U9

From the Nowarra book:

0099 C-3/U9 1942 KE+IX Bewaffnetes Reiseflugzeug Fur Regierung.

Photo, bl, pg 88 (poor), taken from the Port side, rear of the a/c and which looks to have been taken at the same time as the eBay pics, indicates the photos were taken in March 1942 at Demjansk.

No problem RA... I just asumed that you just didn't have decent access to the images! As for the Nowarra title, it doesn't appear on my packed book shelves and is amongst the many titles on my wants list...

cheers,

Tere!

For what it is worth. Fw 200 C-3/U9, WNr 0099 KE+IX was the plane Hitler used for his visit to marsalkka Mannerheim at Finland on his 75th birthday. That was June 4th, 1942. Plenty of photos should be available.

Cheers,
Kari
