USAAF (RAF?) claims, July 24 1944
Hi All:
Does anyone know of any USAAF claims in the area of Lüneburg on this day, perhaps around 11 a.m.? I have Fighter Command War Diaries Volume 5 - can't find anything for the RAF (hence the ? in the title) there, however I don't want to assume too much. TIA, Mark |

Re: USAAF (RAF?) claims, July 24 1944
First USAAF claims of the day are at 1220, at Neu Ulm, by 359th FG, two SE biplane trainers. Next are at 1300, 1305, 1400 all in France.
First RAF day claims are at 1437 to 1550, then 1900, about 2000. Frank.

Re: USAAF (RAF?) claims, July 24 1944
As a sort of backwards confirmation of what Frank says, there are no Fw190 or Bf109 losses listed except in France or the Eastern Front. Of course, we do not have all the losses or "damaged" reports.

Many thanks as ever gents - your info. more or less confirms what I suspected.
For what it's worth, the Luftwaffe aircraft involved was a Ju 88. Best regards, Mark Huxtable |
