Nachtjagdgeschwader Squadron near Paris 3 June 1944
My uncle Norman Johnston's 405 Pathfinder Squadron Lancaster Aircraft N.D. 507 was shot down on June 3, 1944 at 0100 hours 3 kilometers north east of La Boissiere and 30 kilometers north east of Chartres. Source: R.C.A.F. Casualty Branch P. File No. P417949/44. Information was obtained from German documents.
Of the seven-member crew, five were killed and two survived, but were taken prisoner. Aircraft Lancaster ND 507 crashed in the woods at La-Boissiere Ecole, B.7/R5227 at 0130 hours 3rd June, 1944, after an attack by fighters. Could anyone tell me what Nachtjagdgeschwader Squadron would have been covering the area of the Trappes Marshalling Yard south west of Paris on the night of 2/3 June 1944? Are there any records of German "hits" available for research on the Internet? Thank you for any assistance that you may be able to give. Norma O'Toole
