Looking for Robert C. Andrass, crashed on June 26th, 1944 over Austrian territory

Gentlemen, anyone heard that name before? I'm not sure if it is spelled the right way but he crashed with his aircraft somewhere in the very eastern Alps south to southwest of Vienna and propably was KIA. I'm looking for furhter details about this case. Thanks and regards! - Kurtl

Kurtl,

A Robert C. Andrus is mentioned on footnote.com in connection with loss of B-24 42-52265 (454th BG) near Wien on 26 June 1944 (MACR 6432).

No member of site, so can't read the fine print.

Regards,

Leendert

Re: Looking for Robert C. Andrass, crashed on June 26th, 1944 over Austrian territory

Hello,

A Robert C.Andrus was also a POW from the 29th April 1944 when the 454th BG's 41-29265 (MACR 4629) went down.

Did he escape and return to his Unit only to be lost again, then survive the war ?

A Robert C. Andrus is as leendert has said mentioned in connection with the loss of a 454th BG a/c 42-52265 (MACR 6432) on the 26th June 1944.

Then

A Robert C. Andrus is at rest in Ft. Sheridan Post Cemetery, Date of Death 21st May 1975.
He saw service in WW2, Korea and Vietnam.

It could be that this is all the same man ?

All the best
Alex

Good evening Kurtl !

There is no Robert C. Andrass listed in the KIA register of U.S. Army Air Force in WW 2.

All the best !
