Maj. Mathias Schwegler 111/KG51

Could anyone help with the circumstances of the loss off Maj. Schwegler and Ltn. Hans Lubrich shown in the KG 51 book as killed on 18-4-1945,
Thanks
Brian Bines

Brian: You can contact me off board. Schwegler & Lubrich were indeed killed but were not together-latter was reported missing with KG 200. I have their loss reports and Lubrich's photo album

Hi!
I have a very nice picture of Schwegler with his signature, if You want a scan. He was Hauptmann at the time the picture was taken and wears his KC.

Re: Maj. Mathias Schwegler 111/KG51

Hi!
I am actually researching some RAF nightfighters claims and found that F/L John Arthur Sanderson Hall, DFC* from 488 ( RNZAF ) Squadron claimed a Ju 88 on the night of 18/19. April 1944. I do not know if Major Mathias Schwegler was flying a Ju 88 or a Me 410. Did you know in which aircraft he died? What was the serial or codes?
Hope it helped in some way...

Sincerely yours,

Adriano Baumgartner

For those who are interested, I am working away from home but will hopefully be able to answer all of this when I get home tomorrow. I have all of Hall's combat reports but from what I recall, 488 Sqn were not intruding at that time and Schwegler was killed over Germany
