Re: He111 1H+DN of 5/KG26 lost 16 May 1940

Yes, 12öst28 is likely the one at Nomsfjellet (0133 4D+FH) 10.05.40 but the other two of 6./KG 30 I have: 1 missing, 2 killed (1 officer) at ´Narvik´ but the other has has just 1 killed (officer) ´Norwegen kúste´ - thus Peter Cromwells crew listings (before) do not match.... ???

cheers

Re: He111 1H+DN of 5/KG26 lost 16 May 1940

RT/Ed

I am becoming confused (easily happens to me!).

Aren't we talking about two different Ju88Cs of Z/KG30 here? I have 4D+FH shot down on 10 May (Weimann and two POWs); and 4D+RH shot down on 15 or 16 May (two killed).

Help.......................!

Cheers
Brian

Re: He111 1H+DN of 5/KG26 lost 16 May 1940

Brian,

No, I have no knowledge of a Z/KG30 Ju88 lost over Narvik on May 15, 1940. A Ju88A-2 of 2./KG30 was reported lost on that date but they were operating on the western front and that loss took place over Vlissingen & involved the loss of all four crew.

The crew details of the two 6./KG30 losses near Narvik on May 16, 1940, remain as shown in my earlier post.

Re: He111 1H+DN of 5/KG26 lost 16 May 1940

Brian: I must confess perhaps I too have lost the argument!

I know of the Ju 88 Z on 10.05.40 but I have
amended part of post #8 of this thread (as paragraph proven not relevant) but the note on 15.05.40 of Z/KG 30 asking of POSSIBLE LOSS THAT DATE is still relavant as this might affect loss of 1H+DN (Skua perhaps attacking that He 111 on that date over Narvik - (Brian you have any time qouted for that engagement) - if late at night - the He 111 perhaps coming down after midnight in Sweden - thus dates 15. and 16.05.40 relating to same aircraft?

Peter: There were no A-2´s (´Núr Project´ - Only Project as stated in one JFM document) - most likely referring to the Ju 88 ´Rústgrad IIa´ which were still A-1´s.

Ed,

Thanks for that, sub-types not my strongest suit. You are correct, the documents clearly state Ju88 IIA. My error.

Re: He111 1H+DN of 5/KG26 lost 16 May 1940

Remi: Look at Lieferplan 15 (01.09.39) Page 8. There are notes at bottom on what factory made what Rústgrad. f.e. JFM only built Rústgrad 2+2a for their production run to August 1940 (A-1´s), Henschel 1+2+2a but from 24th example changed to Rú 2+2a+3a etc. Then there was also Rústgrad F (Rú F) built only by JFM. Exact meaning has likely to do with Armament / Equipment etc. but at the moment I do not have handy a exact list of all. If you do not have it I can mail it. Cheers
