Re: France, DZ Dick 8

There are two operation lists here (with repeats between the two lists) with contain the co-ordinates for many drop zones.

https://harringtonmuseum.org.uk/wp-c...ts-Summary.pdf

https://harringtonmuseum.org.uk/wp-c...-summary-2.pdf

There are a series of "Dick" drop zones but none labeled specifically "Dick 8". Since in many cases the pilot is also listed with the date, maybe you can still match things up to identify the drop zone. While most of these drops are USAAF, there are some listed that are not.

Operation Dick
'Dick' was a US special forces operation to parachute a three-man Office of Strategic Services team into the Valtellina area of German-occupied Italy to aid local resistance forces (13 February/2 May 1945).
So just how many flights did they do between the given dates ?

Re: France, DZ Dick 8

Here is a link via the Internet Archive to a possible earlier version of the pdf report mentioned by the Col.

https://web.archive.org/web/20230404...nto_france.pdf

This report has 223 pages not 225. Look at page 19 for region labeled "Dick".

If you plot the co-ordinates of the various "Dick" drops found in the links given in post 2 above you should find that they fall in the "Dick" region shown on the map on page 19.

Col & Rswank,

Thank you kindly for your help. Details from France say there was not a 'Dick 8' but two documents held at the NA report it so. It maybe a typo, but there is a 'Dick 7' so its logical ( I think) there must be a 'Dick 8 ?

Thanks again both.

Steve
