Photos of No 92 Squadron Blenheims

Hi

I'm looking for photos of Blenheims used by 92 squadron. Are there any? I'll be very grateful for any help.

Cheers

Dominik

Do you by chance mean 82 Sqn based at RAF Watton and Bodney?

No, I mean 92 squadron's Blenheims while they were in Tangmere or Croydon, before they received Spitfires.

Re: Photos of No 92 Squadron Blenheims

Sorry my mistake - I am so used to 92 have Spitfires I forgot about their Blenheim days.

Not much in my files except a note to say they have Blenheim L6726 which was coded GR-E.

BTW - I presume you have seen their Ops Record Book F540 online

Larry

Yes I know this site and their ORB. I even have digital copies of their ORB for 1939 and 1940. Unfortunately for the period they used Blenheims there isn't F541 only F540. So your info about Blenheim L6726 is the first serial number I've ever seen.
In Poland we have a proverb "Pea-brained is always lucky" - so I have to be one. Yesterday I found a photo in "Battle of Britain Then and Now" in the section about Croydon and the caption says that it shows No 92 squadron Blenheim. If so I've finally found on photo of Blenheim of 92 squadron.
But I still hope that someone has more photos of their Blenheims.

Re: Photos of No 92 Squadron Blenheims

In early war years aircraft often got issued to Sqns in blocks of similar serial numbers, so a further look at JJ Halley's RAF Aircraft The K File and L1000-N9999 gives a few more serials:

K7161, K7165, K7175 - these were used by many units before going to 92 Sqn

L6723 to L6727 inclusive, L6731, L6776 - With all the aircraft listed above they all started with 92 Sqn and then got passed on to another units afterwards

So that's 10 aircraft so far!

Unfortunately I don't know how many Blenheims they received, but I remember that they didn't have rear gunners, only pilots.

Re: Photos of No 92 Squadron Blenheims

The photo album of Alan Wright (02 Squadron) contained photos of the Blenheims.

Worth asking at Hendon if they have copies??
