Re: JG 51 victories (Part 2)

Hi Laurent,

The claim : 30.06.43 / Fw. Kurt Dombacher 10./JG 51 MiG-3 64 322: at 4.500 m.09.25Film C. 2032/II Anerk: Nr. 277,

corresponding to the sector of the 15th Air Force, where the 234th IAD indicates 2 combats, one between 2 Yak-7 and Me109 and the other between 2 Yak-7 and 6 FW6190. No Soviet losses and 3 FW-90 claimed (!!! - ???)

There is therefore no corresponding Soviet loss: overclaimed at first sight

Is there any reference anywhere to a 1 GIAP pilot, E V Taravkov, KIA this date?

Hello,

Taravkov Evgeny Vladimirovitch of the 1st Gv IAP is dead the 5th Jiuly 1943.

during an interception mission, I'll try to find who shot him down but that day JG/51 has dozens of claims, I don't know if I'll have the time, so I'm not promising anything

Re: JG 51 victories (Part 2)

5th July 1943.

Concerning the Taravkov death the report of the 1st VA give :
At 8:05 p.m., 4 Yak-7s fought against 4 FW-190s following which 3 FW-190s were shot down and crushed near Kouïava station. ( 10km north Lioudinovo, Gradnez 44198)
Loss: During the return to his airfield 10 km south of Sukhinitchi, pilot Torovkov parachuted while his Yak-7 was flying in an inverted position. The parachute did not open, the pilot died.

No German claim matches, which seems normal since the Yak-7 flew 70 km before the pilot fatally tried to parachute.

Concerning the Soviet claims can be 2/3 of overclaiming if we consider that Egon Raukes lost his life in this fight

3./J.G.54 Fl.Pl. Karatschew, absturz nach luftkampf FW-190 A5 n° 1301, 100%, Uffz, Raukes Egon, todt - (N°73/RL_2_III_1191)

Courtois

I know that you are only answering a request from Nick Hector but I am a bit confused
In post 142 you say Taravkov was killed on 5 July 1943
In post 146 you say Taravkov was killed on 5 June 1943
Which date is correct? Since you mention the loss of Raukes I take it 5 July is correct and not June?

If the loss of Raukes in this context is correct it should be transferred to JG 54 victories. There is a
separate topic about that.

Cheers
Stig

Hello,

it's july naturally, the posts are always 80 years off, so if I forget the date or make a mistake when switching languages (I work simultaneously in German, English, French and Russian), you can correct it quite easily.
Thank you for pointing out my mistake.

Re: JG 51 victories (Part 2)

29th July 1943 : Two victories for Oblt. Herman Lücke.

At 4:45 p.m., 2 Yak-9s and 4 Yak-7s of the 18th GvIAP took off Andréï to protect Il-2s of the 224th ShAD in the Zlin' - Znamenskoe sector, where they were attacked by 4 then 3 FW-190s.
During the fight, Second Lieutenant Arkhipov shot down 1 FW190 which crashed 10-15 km east of Zlyn'. Another was shot down by Captain Semenov who crashed in the Zlyn' sector. During the fight second lieutenant Boradavka Andrei Mikhaelevich (15.5.1921-?) and Kozlov Aleksei Ivanovitch (1922-1943) were killed.
Second Lieutenant Boradavka was taken prisoner at Bolkhov.
Zlyn': GNMV: 54698
From 4:20 p.m. to 5:25 p.m., 2 Yak-7s and 2 Yak-9s, during an escort mission of Il-2 of the 224th ShAD in the Zlyn' - Znamenskoe sector, were attacked by 6 FW-190s which shot down Second Lieutenant Ocinenko Parfery Romanovitch (1918 -1943) and Pilipeïko Konstantin Ivanovtich (1918 - 1943).
According to the testimony of the crews of Stourmoviks one of the pilots parachuted into the Yagodnia sector.
This mention is indicated for the second mission, whereas the prisoner is a pilot of the 1st mission.

That day, JG 51 claimed 4 victories in a corresponding time slot.
Maj. Fritz Losigkeit claims a Lagg-3 at 3:30 p.m, 3 km S of Kraniskovo ( (54654) ).
The Oblt. Herman Lücke claims 2 Lagg-3s, the first at 3:33 p.m. around Znamenskoe (54687), the second 3:59 p.m. 10 km SE of Yagodnia. 13 km W of Bolkhov. (54622
The Fw. Wilhelm Küken claims at 3:49 p.m.a Lagg-3 still near Znamenskoe (54684)
