Oblt Raithel 4./JG 54

This pilot apparently got his 5th kill on 30 Oct 40 but who was he, what did he do before and after?

Re: Oblt Raithel 4./JG 54

Hi Chris

This claim was certainly not confirmed, and likewise I cannot find anything at all about him, strange since he was an officer...…...could be a phantom?

Kind Regards

Johannes

Johannes-agree with you totally! I have worked my way back with II./JG 54 and I./JG 76 looking for a pilot with 4 kills prior to this. Nothing

Re: Oblt Raithel 4./JG 54

Hello Chris,

JFV Vol. 3 (page 376, footnote 281):
In the claim list of I./JG 76 period 10 May to 25 June 1940 are 9 nameless victories. One of these is assigned to Oblt Raithel from 1./JG 76.

JFV Vol. 4/II (pages 313-316):
In the claim list of II./JG 54 are 3 victories in August 1940 without the exact date and 5 nameless victories for the period 26 June to 30 August 1940. Two of these were achieved by Oblt Raithel from 4./JG 54 (3.-4.).

Regards
Leo
