JG Unit/Roster info

Hi. I am new here and was wondering if someone might be able to help with few questions.
I would like to know what JG unit was a mainstay in the home defense roll, and if possible anyone knows any pilot roster names for such unit/units...mainly starting out in the Mid to Late 1942 time frame.
I think maybe like JG 1 & 11(later)
basically looking at staffel size amount.
Maybe like Heinz Knoke's unit..think was 5./JG11?
looking at ones that mainly flew bf-109s
Thanks for any help on this...
Mike
