Re: Bf109-RL+CH

I would think that it is a Type E as I assume the dates in the bok only go from 1938 up to 1940

Re: Bf109-RL+CH

I'd guess the RL+CH is an Überführungskennzeichen of Erla factory. This signs were used from September 1937 to the end of 1939. So I'd say it's an Bf 109E.

Re: Bf109-RL+CH

... And given the destinations I'd say most probably an E-7/Trop. ...
But, Tom Willis, with such destinations (Tobrouk, Sollum) it's already 1941 !
Regards,
Franck.

Re: Bf109-RL+CH

Some doubts there for the E !!!, really necessary to show everywhere an E-Trop model ?? Never heard of such a tour for other models, or to show the "Trop" feature ,,?? Only need maybe the send right model of filter nd some drawings ..

Any other subtypes than E/Trop in Africa? Except, maybe, machines of III./JG26. Even E-8 and E-9 used by reconnaissance units were tropicalized. Am I wrong ?

Re: Bf109-RL+CH

It seems to me that this might not be during wartime - could the flights be a tour or demonstration of some sorts. No dates are given - can anyone translate the notes that go with the RL+CH Stkz

Talking Re: Bf109-RL+CH

Not stupid indeed this tour prior 1941, this kind of tour existed, they organised one for multi-engines in the spring or summer 1940, Bf109 took his place in this kind of "Voyage organisé", goal was, as I remembered well to test planes in this type of climates

Rémi

Today, if I heard well Ms Thunberg, tour would be placed between Finnland nd Norway

Re: Bf109-RL+CH

Thanks ouidjat - My ears are always open to new ideas and advise - never afraid to admit I am wrong - only contribute to stimulate intelligent debate - to look at all facts so that maybe the truth will hopefully appear.
Thanks Remi - Perhaps this may have been a 'test-flight' to check out tropical conditions. Interesting idea. It would explain the use of a pre-war Uberfuhrungskennzeichen - ferry-code.
