Re: Oberl Scheurich 10.05.1940

The book "Battle of France then and now" by Peter Cronwell has the following

"He 111 P (editor note: difference in sub-type with above). Shot down by S/L More of 73 Sqn RAF during photo-reconnaissance mission on airfields at Metz and Diedenhofen. Crashed and burned out near Chambley-Bussières, south-west of Metz 6.30 a.m."
Same crew as above

The book "Twelve days in May" by Brian Cull, Bruce Lander and Heinrich Weiss has the following:
"At 0630 hrs (on 10 May) Sqn Ldr J W C More (commanding officer of 73 Sqn) took off at the head of five Hurricanes (of his squadron, from their base of Rouvres). A lone He 111H of 3.(F)/121, on a reconnaissance sortie to Metz and Thionville, was spotted and More attacked. The aircraft exploded in mid-air and fell to the ground in pieces, killing Oblt Kaspar Scheurich and his crew. One of the Flight, Sgt Humphries, failed to return but had only lost his way and landed at Athies, from where he returned later."
