Re: Colour scheme Bf-110 II./ZG76
Thanks for the corrections Dan; you must have seen the designations for II.Gruppe on
www.ww2.dk ?? I don't know if it's right but they say 2./(H)/33 became Stab./ZG76 not 6.Staffel. All 3 re-designated in August 1943 at Wertheim. Also some Staffeln listed as both (F) and (H); I would think they were one or the other unless their duties changed. Cheers Nick |

You are welcome. I am embarassed by the fact that I neglected to look at the information on Michael Holm's website, where my own work is hosted! I think it will be worth confirming the unit redesignations using the German "Übersicht über Soll, Istbestand, Einsatzbereitschaft, Verluste und Reserven der fliegenden Verbände" files. Kind regards, Dan

Re: Colour scheme Bf-110 II./ZG76
Many thanks for the extensive information. If I'm looking for the aircraft in an earlier squadron, like "6.St. from NAGr.6" I don't know which squadron codes plates they had. Maybe someone can explain to me what I should look for. So far I had searched for "S9" or "M8" or "2N". I also found a color scheme (picture attached) which could fit. My wreck parts are at least yellow at the "Wing Tip" and NOT YELLOW but light grey at the lower engine cover (I have these parts in my hands).

Re: Colour scheme Bf-110 II./ZG76
This is Wolfram's listing of codes but note the common changes within the Geschwaders; eg. ZG1, ZG76, SKG210. The Me110 in the picture was only ZG1 at a particular time ( in Russia hence the yellow markings).
Dan....did you get my e-mail address? Nick http://www.rlm.at/cont/archiv02_e.htm |

Re: Colour scheme Bf-110 II./ZG76
ZG 76 in 1944 used the 'M8' fuselage code.
'2N' was used by III./ZG 76 during the Battle of Britain. It had been re-designated from II./ZG 1, who carried the '2N' code, and that unit did not change the fuselage code when re-designated. From around mid-1943, ZG 1 changed its unit code from 'S9' to '2N'. So: In 1944, '2N' was ZG 1; 'M8' was ZG 76. Hope this helps.

Re: Colour scheme Bf-110 II./ZG76
Thanks John. Considering your knowledge of the Me110 ( I can't bring myself to call it "Bf110 !) and your fine books, that settles it. The photo I posted of 2N+BP ----if the date is right---should be 6./ZG1 not 76, and the colour profiles of 2N+AM and 2N+EM in the Osprey books are 4./ZG1 , same for the photo of 2N+NP but 4./ZG1.
Thank goodness the USAAF didn't have the same problems. Nick |

Yeah, 2N+BP photo is of 6./ZG 1. 2N+NP would be 6./ZG 1.

Re: Colour scheme Bf-110 II./ZG76
Hello, everybody. I have summarized your information together with information from ww.2dk in the Excel table. I have not written down the complete history of the compilations. That would be too extensive. Back to my original question. So if I search a machine of the Stab.II ZG76 still in previous coloring and/or identification, then this should carry if not "M8" presumably "L8", "P2", "F7" or "6M", right?
Many thanks. |

Re: Colour scheme Bf-110 II./ZG76
I'm sure any of you can help me? I also found some interesting information in the microfilms. "all Twin Engine fighter completely black" That would be contrary to my yellow airplane parts.
