What is the recorded maximum number of people carried by a Walrus in flight?

From Profile 224, page 47.
" Amphibious Airways of Rabaul bought 2 Seagull V's and 2 Walrus I'd from the RAAF in 1947, and one of each type was used for Charter flying in the New Britain and Solomons areas for charter, air ambulance and Government ASR flying, with licences to carry no fewer than ten(10) passengers in addition to two(2) crew".

There were wartime occasions I believe when ASR a/c had so many rescued aboard that they were unable to take off. One was taken in tow by ship.

Hello Ian, that's what it says.
Perhaps contacting David Brown or Charles W. Cain who were responsible for the issue of " Supermarine Walrus & Seagull Variants" ,Profile number 224, may clear the " fewer" issue.

It might have been clearer to have written "no more than ten plus two crew"

As it stands it would suggest that they could not fly unless they had ten or more passengers plus two crew ???

An explanation may be the costs of the flights at that time, maybe it would not cover the cost of expences such as fuel/wages/passenger checks etc unless there were ten passengers, no fewer.So maybe ten passengers was the maximum and that it did not fly with less than ten passengers because of aforementioned costs ???

With my school English, I suggest "no fewer than ten" here has more to do with amazement that the Walrus was allowed to carry 10 PAX.
