Is a Yak-11 a Yak-3?

I notice that various LW pilots describe shooting down a "Yak-11", but as we know this was a post-war design. I think I saw the Yak-11 equated with the Yak-3 but is this the case? The Yak-11 looks more like an La-5. Did the LW have advanced knowledge of the development of the YAK-11 and misidentify La-5?

I am looking into a claim by "Esau" Ewald of 6./JG52 on 6 October 1944 (no location I am afraid).

regards

Keith
