Re: Hurricane IIB in India

Wrong variant, too. It's a Mk.IIc - look at the cartridge ejector slots.

Re: Hurricane IIB in India

Hi Graham.
I think it probably is the 12-gun Hurricane IIb. The outer 2x guns protrude forward of the wing (with matching 2x cartridge tubes below wing). The 4x guns in original position remain internal to wing - the openings in leading edge seem closed by non-standard (post-war?) metal-sheet, but the v-shaped array of cartridge chutes under the wing are there, plus an extra one for drop tank plumbing (perhaps?).

Impressed with the temporary canopy cover/replacement.

Re: Hurricane IIB in India

My internal picture had the outer guns further out, but you are right, although they do seem to protrude rather too far which probably helped to mislead. Sorry, and thanks.

Re: Hurricane IIB in India

The on-line photo does have an odd perspective to it. The "restoration" does also have an "for local viewing" element to it, rather than for global internet investigation. Hopefully, certain elements will be restored to original specs - including the canopy and spinner.

In any case, good to see another Hurricane.

Re: Hurricane IIB in India

Its a IIB as indicated in the original warbirds post - has six gun ports per wing. even the Police Academy could identify it as a IIB without any involvement from the rest of us experts
