12/6/44 :Dornier 217 crashed over the Pyrénées mountains
Hi all,
I shall be investigating soon on the crash site of two Dornier 217 in the Pyrénees mountains. They were tracking french resistants on 12 June 1944 : they collided and crashed, one on Mont Sieurat, the other on Mont Sacon. This is in the Nistos valley, close to Toulouse. Has anyone more data : A/C type, serial number and KG (KG 2 ?), crew names, more details on story ? Thanks, GC |

Interesting news, maybe Geschwader Bongart but a bit to soon for them...

Hello Gilles,
I just checked Ulf Balke's "Luftkrieg in Europa" and KG 2 was operating against the allied invasion in the Caen Area. Best wishes. Dirk |
