Verbandsführerschule General der Schlachtflieger

Hello gentlemen,

I have a few questions concerning the Verbandsführerschule of the ground-attack arm. I know that this combat leader school was formed on 28th December 1944, disbanded on 8th April 1945 and based in Grossenhain. Was this school equipped with Fw190Fs and did the unit fly any operational sorties like other ground-attack training and replacement units (e.g. SG 151)? Are there any pilots known to have attended the courses at Grossenhain and if yes, how long did the training take?

Thanks in advance

Best

Michael

Hi Michael,

Hmmm..................Have you found any evidence that this school or Lehrgang ever got past the paper planning stage? In my 50 years of serious Luftwaffe research, I have never encountered it. That is awfully late in the war to be setting up a school and getting it into operation. Could it have been down-sized in concept from a Schule to a Lehrgang in January 1945 and incorporated into 3./SG 102 or perhaps II./SG 2, both of which were based at Grossenhain at that time? It will be very interesting to see what pops up in this thread.

L.
