71 ABS A-20 27 Oct 1943 near Gander, any info ?

Hi All
Looking for any more info on the A-20

What was 71 ABS ? and where were they based

Any info on a/c serial or code letters ?


431027 A-20C 71ABS collision with hurricane near Gander

A-20 crew:
Maj Sobey F. Allen, pilot,
2nd Lt Jack K. Schaffner, bombardier,
Sgt Pless E. Moore Jr., radio operator,
Pvt George M. Haynes, gunner.

RCAF Hurricane 5496 F/O Taylor

My estimate: 71 Air Base Squadron. No serial of A-20 in this story either: http://ganderairporthistoricalsociet...war/Midair.htm but perhaps seen by you already.

The A-20C is listed as 41-19224 elsewhere on this interesting site.
