Spitfire Mark IXb "Betty" MJ584 LO-A
Can anyone tell me was this Spitfire named after his wife? Some accounts give him as having a wife and two children at the time of his death in 1944. This would tend to the belief that he married sometime in 1941 or 1942 but I haven't seen any more details of his dependents.

Re: Spitfire Mark IXb "Betty" MJ584 LO-A
Just found this while searching the internet...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/ww2peop...a1979715.shtml This may be a bit of a problem if Chris Le Roux was indeed married in 1944? Paddy Barthropp does mention he was something of a success with the fair sex when they served together in 1941. |
