Erkennungsmarke in Soldbuch

Hello gents and Erkennungsmarke Experts

In a recently received Soldbuch, a pilot of 'Erprobungskommando 410' (might be an alias for a new 1./NJG 1) had Erkennungsmarke with number 65104 B 72

Some of you may have a brainwave of recognizing this number Please feel invited to explain this number to me.

All the best, Marcel

Re: Erkennungsmarke in Soldbuch

Hello Kaczmarek,

You are marvelous ! Many thanks for this interesting piece of information. Am I correct to assume that the 2./KG 51 was Schreckenberger's first operational unit?
I also discovered that he received the Verwundeten Abzeichen im Schwarz on 3rd November 1941. Now I try to find him in the Luftwaffe Loss Reels in the weeks/months preceeding that 3rd November...

Again many thanks for your helpful answer! Best regards, Marcel

Re: Erkennungsmarke in Soldbuch

Dear Matti,

These are THE details which I hoped to find in the Luftwaffe Loss Reels and so far I had progressed from the 2nd November 1941 back to 5th August 1941 without any accidents of Oskar Schreckenberger and then YOUR info arrived !

Many thanks for this, it is again underlining my strong adherence to databases: once the effort is made, it saves so many costly hours of searching.
Again: thank you for this welcome addition!

Warm greetings from Venlo, Marcel

Re: Erkennungsmarke in Soldbuch

Dear Kaczmarek,

Looking through my list of pilots/Bordfunker/Bordschützen of the I./NJG 1, I see a lot of different Erkennungsmarken-numbers. Just curiosity: is there a source (or publication about Erk.Marke Nummer?) in which such numbers and the units which used these numbers are listed?

It would enable me to get an idea where several men originally came from.

All the best, Marcel

Hi Marcel may I add, I've asked the very same myself previously.
Such a source would be an excellent research tool and aid as you say, in trying to investigate previous career paths.
Best regs,
Steve

Marcel/Steve,

Maybe in Jean Höidal: Deutsche Erkennungsmarken des Zweiten Weltkrieges. Eine Einführung für Interessenten und Sammler (= Uniform und Ausrüstung deutscher Streitkräfte. Band 8). Patzwall, Norderstedt 1999, ISBN 3-931533-40-9?

Re: Erkennungsmarke in Soldbuch

Hello Jaap,

Thank you for this interesting lead and perhaps some of our illustrious TOCH members will join a common effort to put a list together of known Erkennungsmarke Nummern ?

Hartelijke groet, Marcel
