A new Fw 190 D-9

Really a rich haul over on the Picasa albums... Here a Fw 190 D-9, "Schwarze 3", II./JG ? with a toned down Balkenkreuz, maybe of JG 26 as the dark color of the RV Band suggests...

Found it!

Always good to see what appears to be a new Fw190D-9 image Marc... A different image of the same bird can also be found on page 291 of the excellent "The Focke-Wulf Fw190 Dora - volume 1" by J.Crandall [EagleEditions, 2007]

Re: A new Fw 190 D-9

Hallo Unikum,

All the pictures of this album put online by Gunther Gillot are NARA pictures which can be four at footnote.com.

The first link you give is Bf 109 G-10 W.Nr. 770 157 "Gelbe 66", photographed at Köthen, April 1945.

Cheers

Re: A new Fw 190 D-9

Unikum,

Nice pics you found there; I do not think though they depict Rudel and his machine, known to be a Fw 190 D-9 and also photographed in April 1945. The machine in this Ebay auction is an A-8, and the pilot does not match Rudel.

But then who could it be? Which unit?

Thanks for sharing your find
Marc

PS: Simon Schatz just proved me wrong over on LEMB: the pilot is indeed Rudel, and the plane might be his.
