Re: 5.9.1940 - He 111 II./KG 26

Hi,

6896 H-3 Failed to return after sortie to East coast of England Sept 5th 1940

3295 H-3 Belly landed Calais after sortie Sept 5th 1940

In one of my papers I do have a reference to Thameshaven, possibly a target for these.

Regards

David

Sorry,

I believe that this was an afternoon to early evening sortie but I suspect that others may have the answer!

David

Re: 5.9.1940 - He 111 II./KG 26

Hi,

I have had plenty of cases previously where the Germans refer to the whole of the British Isles as 'England' so Edinburgh could in this case be feasibly seen as East coast of England! Just a thought.

If Edinburgh has been specifically mentioned I would suspect that it was indeed the actual target.

Regards

David
