Junkers Ju 52 werk nummer question

Hii all

On 03.12.1943. Ju 52 w.n. 10138 II/TG4 was shot down by RAF 126 squadron (claimed by B.W.Clarke) near Dubrovnik.
What is puzzling me is the "werk nummer" 10138. According to sources on internet and book by Ferenc A. Vajda and Peter Dancey "German aircraft industry and production from 1933 to 1945" w. n. for Ju 52 was from 4000 - 4080, 5001-6000, 6001-7800.

Am I missing something?

I cannot find any information about this hig 5 digit w.n.
thanks in advance
Antun

Re: Junkers Ju 52 werk nummer question

C/n 10138 was one of the first Ju 52/3ms built by SECM/Amiot in France for the Luftwaffe in 1943. The c/n batches you mention (correctly 4001 - 4080, 5001-7800) are from production by the parent company and there were several others.

The plate seems to be for a part only, not for the whole aircraft.

@drifter206/Antun:

Has the plate you show in post #1 anything to do with the aircraft you mention ("werk nummer" 10138) in post #1? And if so, what is the link between these two?

Thanks in advance.

Gerhard

Re: Junkers Ju 52 werk nummer question

Gerhard,
Plate is from that actual aircraft. It is part of the wing or flap. Part is still in the village nearby where aircraft crashed. Also some other parts were found but they were incorporated in tools, sheds and so on (piston made use as a hammer). Some small parts were also found on location.

Also some witnesses are still alive and they remember crash very well.
I have some information about the crash but I am still searching for the names of 12 passengers, data about the flight (from where it came and where it was going), and general thing s about TG4 unit.

Re: Junkers Ju 52 werk nummer question

Antun,
thanks for the additional information.

The number '809871' in the cell 'Zeichn' identifies this part as the inner portion of the (small) trailing wing.

In contrast, the names of the 12 passengers will probably be difficult to find as in Luftwaffe documents 'passengers' were usually not worth to be mentioned by name.

Regards
Gerhard
