NA-57, KR+IA FFS A/B 42

Hi forum readers,

On August 19, 1943 a NA-57 is reported to have crashed near Schoonrewoerd in The Netherlands, StKZ KR+IA with serial 21. Aircraft was from FFS A/B 42 Langensalza and crew were W. Wehnert (killed) and E. Kraft (survived).

Have some questions:
- what brought a FFS A/B 42 Langensalza, located in the (current) eastern part of Germany to The Netherlands? Navigation flight?
- was the a/c flying from it's home base or was it (temp) based in The Netherlands?
- any details / records available from the crash / accident ?
- any "proof" this was a NA-57, and not a NA-64? (often mix-up, wrongly identified)

All information is most welcome. Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Benno ("BennoT6")

Hi Gogh from Rotterdam,

Thanks for feedback. Pictures are clearly showing NA-64, and not a NA-57. One questionmark taken away in my records!

Best regards,

Benno, The Netherlands

Hi Benno - Can confirm that this is a NAA64 - I have the full names for the 19.08.43 crash as Uffz.Willi Wehnert & Eberhard Krait - but might be mispelling of Kraft.

Regards Tom

It probably belonged to one of the Zieldarstellungsstaffeln set up by different schools units. In Denmark Zieldarstellungstaffel 102 was active 1942-43. I do know that a Zieldarstellungsstaffel 101 did also exist. But I do not know where it was stationed.

Hello,

Zieldarstellungsstaffel 101 used a/c of FFS A/B 42 in Uetersen (May 1942 Novermber 1943). Some parts were in Vechta in 1943/44.

Regards,
Sven
