Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Michiel,

Back to your question about what I meant under "lifted photos"; I do mean by this pics which are freely accessible under fair use conditions, and are "privatized" by some unscrupulous people to be sold as repros at eBay.

An exemple among others for this behavior is seller marwaj2 who regularly trawls the pics of my Flickr pages, pics his choice and then sells those pics including the captions for 3,99 Euros. Here is his latest "capture":

Actually, this photo - with three others - was sent 6 March 2016 to me directly by Martin Reiher, son of former Uffz. Gerhard Reiher, with the request I should upload them on Flickr for all to see. And there it goes merchandized....

Marc

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Hello Snautzer,

First, thank you for your continued hard work and dedication.

Unless I am mistaken, the Fw 190 shown in Post #260 is Fw 190 A-8 (682989) 21+ — white ("—" = red o/l white, 900mm), 5./II./JG301, 45/05/08+, found abandoned at Fl.Horst Nürnberg.

Respectfully,

Steve Sheflin

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

source LEMB, Jerry Crandall
this is an A-8/R2 that originally had Sturmbock equipment but the fuselage armor plate has been removed; however, the additional 30 mm armoured glass is still installed in the windshield quarter panel. It also appears that it has the common VDM 9-12067 A metal propeller. The hastily applied White '2' matches "Red 22" the well known A-9, W. Nr. 490044, also of II./JG 301.

Werknr 682989 from II./JG301 was reported as non-operational at Erfurt-Bindersleben
