New Book: De Fokker D.VII

Although slightly off topic I want to share a new title that took me by complete surprise:

De Fokker D.VII
In dienst van de Nederlands Militaire Luchtvaart
(In service with Dutch Military Aviation)
Nico Geldhof
ISBN 97-890-80498136
2008, Geromy
220p, laminated hardcover

Although the title might be slightly misleading, it covers all air services that made use of the Fokker D.VII fighter and trainer: the Army, Navy and East Indies Army.

Well as much as the author disappointed me with his "Alle hens" he made more than up for it with this little gem. Again well balanced it will appeal to many people with an interest in this fighter classic.

If there is one area where you might find it lacking it is detailed drawings. Another area might be aircraft handling and performance. But I have to add in its favor that the book doesn't claim to be a technical history, and while not being one still includes more than just a little bit of technical information. Something many similar books fail to provide altogether.

Some 14 pages of colored profiles give a good idea on how the camouflage and markings developed through the long years in Dutch service.

Well done by both writer and publisher: a great way to remember a fighter that served the Dutch air forces well into the thirties!!

Again a very nice book for those with an interest in the subject.
