Need help finding a book

Guys:

YEARS ago, I remember reading a novel centered around a 'kid' (I mean literally==he seems to have been virtually a teenager) who's a crewman of a B17 stationed in England. The novel was set around late 1944/early 1945. The huge raids the 8th mounted in support of the Allies during the Ardennes Offensive was the high point of the book. I cannot remember much more than that...hopefully somebody with a better memory and more working 'brain cells' than I have will remember this novel.

Thanks, ahead of time.

I'm pretty sure that it is not the book you're looking for but your 'synopsis' reminded me of one of my old favourites, " Sam and the 100th Bomb Group " by Sam Hurry

Sure;

The most annoying thing about all this is that, no matter how I slice up or 'massage' the subject (either in my search engine or my library's catalogue), I never seem to get 'fictional' WW2 aviation novels.

Sounds interesting, but I don't think it's the one. I recall that per the Point Of View of the writer did not get shot down (I think).

The thing that I find MOST vexing is that neither Amazon or any of the search engines understand when I ask for a novel, I want fiction.

Did you try searching here:

www.worldcat.com

It's the card catalog for every library in the world. No book has ever been published and assigned an ISBN number, fiction and non-fiction, that's not in this data base.

It linked to some kind of 'speedboat' dealer.

EDIT: I found it! 'A Real Good War' by Sam Halpert.

BUT IF you got a card catalogue for everything in the world, I'd love to know about it.

Sorrrreeee! I had the URL category wrong. It's ".org" instead of ".com":

https://www.worldcat.org/

Take a look - it'll be worth your time.

Thanks! All's good. What WAS the most bothersome was how 'normal' search logic didn't seem to work any more.
