Re: A new one ..
The pencilled comment says “presumably crashed over the North Sea, the body washed up on the coast between Lycke and Marstrand [?]”. The circumstances were reported by what looks like a police organisation (Ausw. Amt Pol. I Lu. 3779/39, Berlin W. 8) via the RLM and dated 14 December.
I’d guess that Ausw. Amt = Auswertungs Amt (evaluation office) and that Pol. is Polizei rather than anything to do with politics, for example. Lu. 3779/39 looks like it’s either a case reference or the serial number of a message (the format is similar to that used for Luftwaffe directives for example). |

Quote:
Ausw. Amt = Auswärtiges Amt = Foreign office (the body washed up in the Netherlands, so it is a consular/ embassy affair) Pol I Lu = Polizei Inspection der Luftwaffe (Police force/ precinct of the Luftwaffe) in Berlin W.8

Re: A new one ..
Both Lycke and Marstrand are small communities on the Swedish west coast.
Marstrand is a small Island while Lycke is just inside on the mainland. Feels likely the body thus ended up somewhere between these two places. B Rgds Stig |

Re: A new one ..
According to Bo Widfeldt in "The Luftwaffe in Sweden 1939-1945" the body of Fw Werner Mingenbach was washed ashore on the Swedish island of Langön on 1.December 1939 and buried at Lycke on 6. December. He was identified as a member of Küstenmehrzweckestaffel 3./706 at Hörnum. This unit was in fact stationed at List on Sylt.
At midnight the 25 October 1939 the following re-numbering of the seaplanes units took place: Stab Küstenfliegergruppe 706 became Stab Küstenfliegergruppe 906 Küstenaufklärungsstaffel 1./706 became Küstenfliegerstaffel 1./906 Küstenaufklärungsttaffel 2./606 became Küstenfliegerstaffel 2./906 Küstenmehrzweckestaffel 3./706 became Küstenfliegerstaffel 3./906. I have a question about the unit code of 8L+UL for this He 59D W.Nr. 1996 of Kü.MZ-Staffel 3./706. I have the unit code 8L+ linked to Küstenfliegergruppe 606 and not 706. The +UL is correct, but I have very little information on the Gruppe 706 unit code prior to 25 October 1939. |

In a later work, Bo changed the place where Mingenbach was found to Lycke and the date to Dec 5th. His original burial was held on the 6th as stated. For those interested in graves, Mingenbach's remains were transferred in 1966 to Kviberg in Göteborg B Rgds Stig |
