On stammkennzeichen.de is the only Bf 109 G-6 bloc listed with .I+N. the bloc
SI+NA to SI+NZ, but no WNr's given.

Re: ME-109G6 W.nr.15909 GERHARD BARKHORN INFO

Between Bf109G-6 WNr 15905 and WNr 15930 is a gap of a complete StKz block. With all caution and given that the SI+N? bock is correct, WNr 15909 might be SI+NE.

Btw, I don't have found a photo where .I+N. is visible. Max, can you show us the photo or name the source?
On the following photos of the WNr 15909 is nothing visible. Just a vertical bar as part of the 4th letter of the SKZ under the wing.

Re: ME-109G6 W.nr.15909 GERHARD BARKHORN INFO

But that is the first letter of the SKZ. So if we think the last letter is an "I" we have to look for a "N.+.I" and not ".I+N." And that range is to big.

In the Barkhorn book on page 125 is a photo of Heinrich Sturm's G-6, early 1944. There are SKZ letters visible: "N.+SC", but I don't know a WNr. of his G-6. But possible the same WNr./SKZ area.

.....

And from B.Barbas book "Gerhard Barkhorn, Das Vergessene As ...
It's clearly I under other wing. Hence "N?+?I". Extract.
