Fighter Loss 2 Aug 42

Apparently a crew from 4/KG 40 (Do 217) claimed a Spitfire around 0700 on this date. I know that all sorts were going on between KG2 & KG 40 the day after so can anyone clarify?

Re: Fighter Loss 2 Aug 42

Hello Chris,

485 Sqn also had BM200 damaged this date, was this around the same time as BM247's loss in the pm or on an earlier Op ?
No other a/c noted in FCL V2 for this date.

Tony Wood's list for the 2nd has only one claim (4/KG40) around 07.36.
Next claim (4/JG2) for a Spitfire is on the 5th around 5 pm.

The F540/541 is confusing. The F541 says that Plt Off D C E Brown carried out a patrol in BM200 1345-1400 hrs then a Rhubarb in BM199 take off from Martlesham at 1500. The F540 says he was damaged by Flak in the rudder, tail and perspex and landed at Martlesham 1630 hrs and the ac remained there not being flown back to Kingscliffe. BM200 next appears 8 Aug, 199 29 Aug

Re: Fighter Loss 2 Aug 42

Hello Chris,

Sorry, I missed BM199 so yes it would look like P/O Brown was on a second patrol and again his a/c was damaged, BM199 was also returned to service later. Time for BM199 looks to fit better.
