I believe he was a pilot who had served in JG27, I have no other info.,
Brian Bines One site shows him in 5/JG27 as Lt. Erwin Baumgarten claiming an Auster near Detmold on 2-4-1945 ? Another site has him as KIA 30-3-1945 with 6 victories, I guess that is what Johannes wants clearing up. Girbig book has Oblt. Baumgarten 5/JG27 missing 21-4-1945

Hi Brian
Thanks for the information. Seems likely then that his proposed date of death of 30th March 1945 is at fault. The lose micro films do not stretch into April 1945, and are patchy for March 1945. I'll look into the Girbig information. Kind Regards Johannes
