Russian-Finnish combat March and June 1944

Hi,

I have recently received some details of two combats involving Finnish Gladiators and Russian P-40's.

On 5 March 1944 2 Gladiators engaged two P-40's. Results would appear to be inconclusive.

On 15 June 1944 a flight of 3 Gladiators was intercepted twice by one and then two P-40's. No damage was inflicted on either side.

Would anyone have details of the Russian unit/s that were involved in these combats? Were they P-40's or could they have been mistaken for something else?

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,

Alex

Re: Russian-Finnish combat March and June 1944

Hello Alex
didn't You get my 2nd message. The right date for March combat is the 6th. The place was over Merimaaselkä, the time 14.25. On March 7th it seems that 152 IAP lost one P-40 Warhawk/Kittyhawk to HLe.Lv. 28's Morane- Saulnier 406s over Maaselkä, so my guess is that also the pair that attacked Gladiators a day earlier was also from 152 IAP.

Just my guess
Juha
