Re: Wrecked Soviet Aircraft

If we go by the owner of the photo from Luftflotte I the SU-2 originated from Baltics
or Stalingrad area Regiment ,though on Baltics there were no SU-2's, also looked into my
numerous books on SU-2 trying to identify the paint, perhaps Richard could rescan the
photo along with clearer DR car destination tag.

There is a possibility that above SU-2 belonged to a Stalingrad Regiment possibly
in 1942. I did scan you a page from my book as into your remark that the year
in question was 41 or 42 .

Alex K

PS : Note that by 1943 several SU2 regiments still operated with no white outline
on the star in addition the SU-2 was removed from active front duties
by early 1944.

Re: Wrecked Soviet Aircraft

My original statement indicated Soviet Union or Poland and that
still applies

??? No. Your original statement indicated Poland or Germany by the end of 1944, or 1945. But never mind.

Wrecked Soviet Aircraft

I finally got around to having another look at the photo with the rail car destination/information sign, the problem is the photo is actually not in very sharp focus.

Anyway, I have re-scanned the pertinent part (600 dpi, I tried 1200 dpi but it was just mush) however, with the image not being in focus I am not sure if anything can be gleaned to be honest.

Regardless of that, thanks to all who have contributed and it is much appreciated.

Regards Richard.
