I have a series of photos of ju88a-17 KG26 torpedo bomber at Bardufoss Norway, in June 1945. number 1H+QV? What does the number 866 refer to? Any information please?

Re: ju88a4-17 KG26 Bardufoss
The aircraft in your photo is Ju 88A-17 W.Nr. 550866 that was left behind at Bardufoss in unserviceable condition. Ex. K.G. 26. It was destroyed at Bardufoss by RAF Air Disarmament Group in the summer/autumn of 1945.
The Stammkennzeichen was reported as RV+PP, but I have no further info on this aircraft. |

Re: ju88a4-17 KG26 Bardufoss
I only know of KG 26 aircraft left behind at Værnes and Gardermoen. What is your source for this was at Bardufoss?

The Stammkennzeichen fits correctly with others in the 55088x sequence.

Re: ju88a4-17 KG26 Bardufoss
I have had this debate before; that no KG26 aircraft were left at Bardufoss.....but i am pleased that Seaplanes has backed me up on this one, thanks! The best thing to do is analyse some of the other photos that show the mountains surrounding Bardufoss, I would guess that this is looking in north-easterly direction, can anyone who knows Bardufoss verify the scenery? (photo enclosed). Incidently, the Germans appear to have left alot of equipment behind at the end of the war; qty4 ju88s, qty2 ju188s, qty1 me410? and qty22 88mm flak artillery including other equipment.

Re: ju88a4-17 KG26 Bardufoss
Ok, Alvis48. Previously I know only of some wrecks left behind at Bardufoss - including one "Wellenmuster" painted Ju 88 (or Ju 188), but no "complete" examples, before now. I do not know where this has been debated, so can not comment on that. Because of your statement (regarding debate) I looked up photos from Bardufoss (ENDU) via www.Airliners.net and found (in particular) one photo - nr. 0534743 of Norwegian AF F-16AM by Anders Forseth (link is below) that apparently does match the background on second photo (pic ju88-3.jpg). Runway directions at ENDU are close to 100/280 Degrees (Magnetic) and some mountains to the North are very close looking.
http://www.airliners.net/photo/Norway---Air/Fokker-F-16AM-Fighting/0534743/L/&sid=0e9244a1853ec45a7c186e1735359b2a Code on this Ju 88 A-17 - yes, this is a A-17 - as the best little known feature is visible here (on pic ju88-3.jpg) ~ small cutout on landing flap near fuselage - if not, the flap, when deploed - it whould hit the steering fins of the (two) torpedoes (on take off or landing). Other small canges were deletion of Gondola, torpedo steering gear fairing built onto side of right side of cockpit. Also the HF under-fuselage trailing-wire antenna mast is now angled down (not sideways), then some versions of Search-Radar were installed. I then agree this (likely 088/550866) may have been ex- (1H)+QN of II/KG 26. Five sets of landing gears show in background, one of them appears an Ju 188. Are there more photos of this and who took them? Best regards ed |

Re: ju88a4-17 KG26 Bardufoss
The Ju 88 A-4 LT was also Torpedo-Bomber.
