Information on Uffz. Leo Zaunbrecher

My name is Nick Zaunbrecher from the United States. I am looking for any information I can get on Uffz. Leo Zaunbrecher who was shot down Aug. 12 1940 near Lewes England. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Information on Uffz. Leo Zaunbrecher

Hi Nick

Feldwebel Leo Zaunbrecher made two claims as an Unteroffizier with 5./Jg52:-

13th March 1940 Po63 South of Zweibrücken 1554 hrs Nr.1
14th May 1940 Battle South-West of Sedan 1915 hrs Nr.2

On 12th August 1940 he was shot down in combat with British Spitfire's, his Bf109 coming down over Lewes, England, where he was taken prisoner. Sorry, but I have no date of Birth/Death for him. Please let me know if you have these details.

Kind Regards

Johannes

I am sure that Andy Saunders will be able to furnish more information on this crash as he has all the known photos of his Bf 109 after its demise

Re: Information on Uffz. Leo Zaunbrecher

Thanks Johannes and Chris. I do have most of this information but after this point there is not much more on the internet. I would like to know more about his capture and time as a POW and also where he was from in Germany. I would like to try to make contact with relatives of his to get further information. Thanks for the help.

Hello Nick!

Do you know this page?

I've written a short report about the Potez which was shot down by Leo Zaunbrecher.

Kind regards
