Any information on what happened to JU88A-14 assigned to 3/KG-6, 3E+CL reported missing 17-7-43 pilot Feldwebel Siegfried Hossfeld

Hello gwing44,

this plane is mentioned in the Gen.Qu. loss report of September 5, 1943 No. 16. Unfortunately cause of crash and the crash-location are unknown.
The crew, all missed:
Flugzeugführer/Pilot Fw Siegfried Hoßfeld
Bordfunker/Radio Operator Ogefr Walter Wesely
Beobachter/Observer Uffz Rudolf Kunze
Bordschütze/Gunner Gefr Hans Rorsch.

Target was stated as being shipping of the southern coast of Sicily. 3E+AK was reported crashing near Ragusa the same night, nothing on 3E+CL

Hello Chris,

the 3E+AK was the Ju 88 A-14, WNr. 550059 of 2./KG 6.
Crew:
Flugzeugführer/Pilot Uffz Josef Jawornig missing
Beobachter/Observer Uffz Erhard Horst missing
Bordfunker/Radio-Operator Uffz Josef Meuter missing
Bordschütze/Gunner Ofw Ewald Nickel missing/later uninjured returned.
Sources:
Gen.Qu. loss report September 5, 1943 No.15 and correction from November 25, 1943 numeral bb (Ofw Nickel unverletzt zurück).

In the loss reports of the Gen.Qu. names are often misspelled.
For example the report from August 30, 1942, No.75:
27.8.42 I./KG 77 Absturz bei Amiens Ju 88 A-4 142193 100%. Flugzeugführer Uffz Josef Javornig, verletzt.
