4 FW200's attack Isbjorn & Selis 31May42

These Norge Icebreakers were part of Operation Fritham - Looking for any details of this attack, for a piece on F/L Dennis Healy.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best regards

Hi Andy

The two vessels were not icebreakers: SELIS was a seal catcher of just 166 grt and ISBJØRN was an old coastal steamer (built 1894 of 437 grt) that had been captured during an earlier raid on Spitzbergen. There is some more information about these ships and their loss on warsailors.com:

Hi Rainer,

Likewise thank you for enlightening me to their true identity, want to get the piece as accurate as possible as the published pieces I've read say 'icebreaker's'

Cheers
Andy

The book "Wekusa" by Klington and Selinger which deals with Luftwaffe weather ops and first posted on this site by me has an account of this operation and the loss of these two ships.
