Re: Two Heinkel 111 J losses (with the same WNr 5050)

Yes Mikael

I am pretty convinced both aircraft reported as He 111 J were just that.

Cheers

Re: Two Heinkel 111 J losses (with the same WNr 5050)

Gonna throw in something of a wrench here. Are any of you guys familiar with another set of loss reports, which I've been told are referred to as the "Bones reports"? I have a few pages and they're very hard to figure out. They list losses by month it seems with minimal detail - aircraft type, SKZ/code, reason for loss, casualties (as numbers) and not much else. No specific dates within the month. The earliest page I have is from Jan-40 (p.100), the latest, Nov-40 (p.246). Does anyone have a complete set of these, and if so, are there any references to He 111J aircraft lost at the end of May-40 - first of Jun-40?

Other than that, got nothing. The loss reports are replete with transcription errors - we're talking clerks manually typing what's presented to them. Did errors occur from the source info or the typists? (And if my typing is anything to go by, we're danged lucky they seem to be as accurate as they are!!)

Jim

Sorry, cannot help you there.
We all have to live with typists errors. Hopefully those back then were a bit more trained on their 'pet' machines.

Back in the early 70's when I started to work as an apprentice I was given the worst typewriter anyone could imagine. The number of faults were numerous mostly due to the fact I always felt I needed a hammer to make the darn thing work...

Cheers
Stig

The "bones list" has for May 1940:
He111 DD+BT, flown against a hill, aircraft destroyed, four crew members dead.

There is nothing in the June 1940 list because the crew returned unharmed.

Re: Two Heinkel 111 J losses (with the same WNr 5050)

Thanks Jörn

A very interesting piece of paper.
Does it have a real date, and also a continuation? I would also be interested in finding out the whereabouts of the other WNr given.

Cheers
Stig
