Seeking information on Air Marshal Arthur Griffiths
Hi all,
I have recently been given some books which belonged to Air Marshal Arthur Griffiths in the 1950s. I would like to find out more about his career, but keep drawing blanks. I have been informed that he was in a Spitfire over the beaches on D-Day. At some point in WW2 I believe he was downed and taken PoW. He returned to RAF flying after the war, and I know he flew Vampires. Two of the books bear his name penned on the cover. One, 'Pilots Notes for the Vampire T.11' published September '55 is inscribed Squadron Leader Griffiths, another, 'Flying Vol 2. Aircraft Operation' published August '55, is inscribed Wg Cdr Griffiths. Im assuming he accquired this book second hand. Sadly, he passed away three or so years ago. Does anyone have any information on the career of Air Marshall Griffiths? Many thanks for any help. Regards, S. |
