26 April 1942 Ditched Bomber Located but which type ?

On 26 April 1942 Gatward and Fern of 236 Squadron locate a ditched bomber 'believe to be Whitley.'

They take-off 1029 return 1354 to Wattisham.

Not in possession of Chorley's could any one confirm ditching of bomber or losses on 25th, 24th or 23rd of this type in North Sea. No co-ordinates given on 540 or 541.
